About Us

The Joe Roland Community Center was founded in 2017 under the leadership of lifetime community member Edna Rayford and a dedicated founding board. Located in the historic Freedom Colony of St. John at the intersection of rural Caldwell and Bastrop Counties, our center stands on a 10-acre reserve donated by founder John Winn Sr. when the historic Freedom Colony of St. John was formed over 155 years ago.

Through partnership with the Central Texas Food Bank, we provide food assistance to surrounding residents and deliver hot meals to elderly, sick, and shut-in community members. We also host multi-generational activities and community planning meetings to strengthen our historic community.
