The Joe Roland Community Center provides a variety of services to meet the needs of residents in the Historic Saint John Colony and surrounding rural areas of Caldwell and Bastrop Counties.
In partnership with the Central Texas Food Bank, we provide food assistance to community members in need. Our food pantry services include:
– Distribution of nutritious food items to eligible households
– Hot meal delivery to elderly and homebound residents
– Nutrition education and healthy cooking demonstrations
We are expanding our offerings for children and teens in our community through:
– After-school tutoring and homework help
– Mentorship programs connecting youth with community leaders
– Recreational activities and sports
– Life skills and workforce readiness training
The JRCC serves as a hub for accessing important resources that are often difficult to find in rural areas:
– Health education and wellness resources
– Information about government assistance programs
– Computer and internet access
– Meeting space for community groups
We host regular events that bring our community together:
– Family game nights
– Community planning meetings
– Health and wellness workshops
– Cultural and historical celebrations
– Intergenerational activities
Through the St. John Service Project, we are developing new programs to better serve our community:
– Workforce development opportunities
– Exercise and recreational activities
– Community gardening
– Technology training
The Joe Roland Community Center was founded in 2017 under the leadership of lifetime community member Edna Rayford and a dedicated founding board.
